Inequalities between coastal and peripheral regions were a key driver behind the Tunisian revolution of 2011, and as more space opens up for citizens including youth and women to be involved in municipal elections, this has created change in local governance.
The video sheds light on the debate around decentralization in Tunisia and beyond, as well as the negative repercussions of having power centralized within a ruling elite, which is a phenomenon still pervasive across Arab states.
