In the lead up to the exhibition "Made in Germany? Art and Identity in a Global Nation," exhibition curators hosted live conversations on Instagram with artists, scholars, curators, and writers exploring the narratives around nation, race, gender, and identity in German art.
In this installment of Busch Hall Conversations, Hans-Christian Schink joins curator Lynette Roth to discuss how Schink’s series “Traffic Projects German Unity” raises key issues about German identity—from the time the country was reunified to this day.
Busch Hall Conversations, named for the historic site of the Busch-Reisinger Museum, Adolphus Busch Hall, launched in February 2021. The series created an online forum to reimagine German art and national identity. The ensuing conversations informed the 2024 exhibition “Made in Germany?,” on view at the Harvard Art Museums September 13, 2024 through January 5, 2025.
