I suck at 3D modeling, well actually I used to suck before I spent 50 hours learning, practicing, and improving with blender. Over the 50 hours, I learned a ton about hard surface modeling, and by watching this video, you’re also learning 50 hours worth of material but in like 20 minutes for free.

I started by learning 3d modeling with blender through a free course and youtube videos. After I felt like I had a good handle of the basics of hard surface modeling I started modeling some small tangible objects I had in front of me. This let me practice the techniques of hard surface without having to worry about the creative side of 3D modeling.
After that I worked on modeling from my mind which didn't go too well. Having a reference really helped me and seeing myself taking a step back in quality wasn't too encouraging. When making a game asset for unity or unreal engine, you won't have a reference image to go off of most of the time.
Next I took a bit of time learning 2 very popular paid blender addons called hard ops and boxcutter. Both work very well together and benefit from a boolean workflow.
Once I learned the how the addons worked, I made some more models, and I started going from my head. Not everything was great, but I started with simple stuff and then got a bit more complex. That was also the point I would think in terms of game assets and the game asset workflow (modeling, retopology, uv-unwrapping, baking, exporting). At the end of it all I had made a really cool sci-fi laser gun without any sort of tutorial or guide.
Everything I learned was free, and entirely possible for you to learn too. 50 hours in blender is a lot, but 1 hour a day for 2 months is a lot more manageable.
