[Genshin Impact] Rhodeia's Rage Event - Guaranteed Units Only
Strangely, the event variant of the Oceanid feels easier than the normal one.
This battle takes a lot of focus away from the Hydro summons and emphasizes Rhodeia's attacks instead. Her dashes can be dealt with by horizontal sprints, her melee attacks can be run away from, and the water vortices do minimal harm so long as you react to them quickly. The homing water orbs are the most interesting part of Rhodeia's repertoire, since some elemental attacks are capable of destroying them - whether to break the orbs or try to flee from/shield them is an interesting split I wish this fight had more of. A shame everything else loses its threat.
Rhodeia's Hydro mimics are limited to boars, squirrels, and crabs. They only appear from certain situations (boars and squirrels have fixed summons at a fixed HP threshold, and crabs appear from Rhodeia's Rapids attacks you need platforms to avoid), and while some of their attack changes are interesting (giving the boars an actual second attack is more than welcomed), they aren't too strong. They also lack the swarming nature that made them such a potential issue in the regular Oceanid fight.
The last deal breaker here was how often Rhodeia left itself vulnerable if you were aware of what worked at what times. Rhodeia constantly infusing Hydro to itself let it get shredded by Electro-charged and Vaporize attacks, catalyst attacks can apparently hit Rhodeia while it's underneath the platforms, and Rhodeia has a head weak spot during multiple attacks that force the player to sit on a platform and look at the boss.
Some fascinating shifts certainly came from this fight - I personally just wish they were emphasized further to make the battle a little more engaging.
