CPU scheduling is a process which allows one process to use the CPU while the execution of another process is on hold(in waiting state) due to unavailability of any resource like I/O etc, thereby making full use of CPU. The aim of CPU scheduling is to make the system efficient, fast and fair.
The process makes a transition from the Running state to the Completion State during this time frame. Burst time can be calculated as the difference of the Completion Time of the process and the Waiting Time, that is, Burst Time (B.T.) = Completion Time (C.T.) - Waiting Time (W.T.)
Arrival time (AT): Arrival time is nothing but the time when the process arrives in ready queue. Burst Time (BT): Amount of CPU time that is required to finish the process (Before the process started). Completion Time (CT): The time at which process finished its execution.
