Gravity Forms is the most popular form building plugin for WordPress. And WordPress has more than 30% of the world's CMS market share. Also, PayPal is the largest online payment platform in the world. PayPal Sandbox is also an awesome platform for developers to test PayPal transactions. So I decided to combine all of the above to make a series on WordPress development, most of the Gravity Forms features and strengths, and PayPal Sandbox connectivity to establish proof of concepts.
I'll focus on several Gravity Forms add-ons, namely, PayPal Standard add-on, User Registration add-on, and 'Advanced Post Creation' add-on
in this series. Mostly, I'll build forms, create necessary Gravity add-on feeds, connect to dependencies (PayPal Sandbox, Mailchimp, etc.), perform transactions, and in the end, show the results by logging on to several application backends. In the process, I also show how to enable and use Gravity debugging logs and implement Gravity API Hooks & Filters to accomplish custom tasks at the WordPress backend.
Once the Gravity add-on coverage is complete, I'll drop a new series combining all the Gravity add-ons, Gravity Hooks, WP Cron, etc., and some custom PHP to build a Directory Listing Application prototype. I strongly recommend this series to all WordPress, Gravity Forms & PayPal developers.
In this video, I create a Gravity Form, a PayPal feed, connect that feed to PayPal Sandbox, set up IPN (Instant Payment Notification), set up Gravity Forms' debug logging, and run a successful PayPal transaction. In the end, I log on to the PayPal Sandbox backend to show the transaction record to establish a proof of concept.
