HDR Photography Tutorial
HDR stands for “high dynamic range.” Dynamic range is the difference between the lightest light and darkest dark you can capture in a single photograph. Once your scene exceeds the camera’s dynamic range, (and it is different for each camera) the highlights loose detail or the darks simply become black. It’s very difficult to capture a photo that includes both ends of this spectrum in high contrast situations. This is where HDR comes in.
This technique uses two or more photos merged together to increase the dynamic range in a picture. A tripod must be used when taking the photos so no camera movement happens. This is a problem if the photos do not match up properly as ghosting will occur.
