The simplest method of cleaning parts of the fuel system is to add a cleaning chemical additive to the fuel in the tank. The method has the advantage of providing some cleaning to all parts of the system and is good for maintaining a clean system, but will generally not solve preexisting failures due to heavy carbon buildup in fuel injectors or clogged fuel filters.
