We all know that PowerPoint provides some really cool animations and transition effects.
However, if you're using PowerPoint in a professional setting, you'll want to keep those animations
subtle yet professional.
In this video, I want you to show you a way to make your PowerPoint presentation dynamic in a way that enhances the message of your presentation.
Let's first check out an example and then I'll show you how to do it in PowerPoint.
Here's a simple video of a world map. As the video progresses, the focus zooms in on a specific region of the map.
Then the focus shifts to other regions of the map. Finally, the video shows you the original image once again.
This effect actually enhances the presentation, because you're not just showing a static image of the world map and asking the viewer to switch attention to
the different regions. At the same time, the animation is subtle, so you can use the same technique in your corporate presentations as well.
So how do you create this effect in PowerPoint?
Let's say in our video or presentation, we want to focus on three specific regions.
You'll 3 duplicate copies of the first slide for those three regions, and finally a fourth duplicate copy so that you can return the viewer to the original image.
Next, you need to zoom out on the slides showing the individual regions. Let's zoom out of the slide first. You can go to View, Guides so that you can see the position
of different elements of the image with respect to the slide. Next, say you want to focus on North America. You'll drag the edges of the image to zoom out the image.
You'll then reposition the zoomed image such that the region of North America is in focus. You may also add a text box with the words North America.
Next, do the same thing for the next two slides. Let me apply the same technique and focus on regions South America and India. I'll copy the text box used in slide 2
and replace the text for slides 3 and 4.
If you've not guessed it already, we are now going to select slides 2 through 5 and under Transitions, add the Morph transition effect.
The morph transition is going to take your image and text boxes and give you the effect of morphing them such that they transform into the ones in slides 2 through 4.
Finally, we return the viewer back to the original image.
You can apply this technique to any presentations in which you have an image or set of images and you want the viewer to focus on different elements of the images.
Try it out in your presentations and let me know whether you like how this simple technique makes your presentations stand out.
