SpaceX Tranported B1062 Back Home. New Falcon Launches Soaring...
Just 2 days after the landing explosion and grounded by FAA, SpaceX Falcon 9 is back in flight.
This broomstick is now ready to rescue the astronauts on its rival ship.
Find out everything in today's Techmap episode.
But before we begin, let's subscribe to the channel to stay up-to-date with the latest space news.
After the failed landing of the Falcon 9 booster, B1062 on the dawn of August 28, at noon on August 30, Booster 1062's remains arrived back in port aboard an autonomous spaceport drone ship.
As you can see, there wasn't much left of B1062 after the destruction, mainly consisting of the engine section and landing legs, enough to show how crazy the explosion was.

The incident happened after stage separation, the booster returned to land on the drone ship A Shortfall of Gravitas. Everything appeared routine until the booster approached the droneship. Upon watching the landing video, it was clear that something was amiss—the landing speed seemed unusually fast. As the booster neared the droneship, its landing legs deployed as expected, but the engines continued to burn, suggesting a potential issue with deceleration. The booster then tilted toward one leg, the flames intensified, and the booster tipped over, likely resulting in its destruction.
Despite ending in an explosion, B1062 is still remembered for its glorious life. With 23 flights under its belt, it completed 22 more flights than any other orbital-class rocket booster. It many times landed successfully on a floating barge out in the ocean, which for many years people thought was going to be totally impossible. Its second stage safely got the satellites into the right orbit.

This booster had previously launched the crewed Inspiration 4 and Axiom 1 missions along with 2 GPS 3, 16 Starlink, and multiple other satellite missions. The booster's record contributes to the Falcon 9's total landing record, breaking a streak of 267 consecutive successful landings over more than 3.5 years since the last failure in February 2021. This incident is especially notable because SpaceX has set a high bar for reliability, with each successful landing showcasing the company’s engineering prowess.
Although the anomaly didn't affect public safety, the FAA still decided to hold the Falcon 9 rocket ground and quickly launched an investigation. According to the agency, SpaceX has to conduct any corrective actions and meet all other licensing requirements to fly again.
