The CAPE ratio uses stock prices and inflation to figure out if a market or stock is overvalued and due for a crash correction. The UK stocks have not performed but increasingly we are seeing stories that this could be changing... why is that? Well I use the CAPE to assess the UK stock market and also compare UK vs US Stocks! Will the FTSE 100 boom or is it just destined for a stock market crash when the inevitable corrections come but with none of the rallies prior... i.e. will you better off placing your money elsewhere!
2021 was a great month for stock market returns around the world. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 set new all-time highs. But the UK’s FTSE 100 has not performed. It has been trending downwards, and sidewards and the FTSE has crashed a few times as well. Just what is going on? And should we even be investing in the FTSE? So in this video we’ll talk about the FTSE 100 and whether or not I believe it is a good investment to invest in the UK stock market. The FTSE 100 had a great rally through the 1990’s and even in the early 2000’s, but since the financial crisis of 2007/08 it’s just never been that strong. The index hasn’t performed very well in comparison to global peers. The UK has missed out on the tech boom and we’ve relied so heavily on our legacy businesses like our big banks, energy and consumer goods companies that steady staples but not what investors have been excited about! It really has transformed into pretty lackluster returns for investors over the past decade, but is everything about to change for the better, or is the collapse of the U.K. and regular crashes of the FTSE now just part of the trend!
