Host Jeremy C. Park talks with ChangeMaker, Leigh Mansberg, President and CEO of Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South, who highlights how her education journey has grown from teaching in one classroom to the helm of an organization that has the potential to reach every classroom in the region with a focus on empowering children to be "world ready." During the interview, Leigh discusses growing up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas with parents who were both entrepreneurs and how those experiences help shaped her perspective on the importance of failure in learning and creating success, and how to "turn a negative into a positive." She talks about starting her career as a teacher and how mentorship allowed her to see and realize her potential to step into administration and leadership. Leigh unpacks how she was intentional to pivot her career to learn about entrepreneurship and business, so she could make an even greater impact, and how that led her to Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South. She talks about their mission and some of their innovative programs, their growth and expansion, and ways the community can serve and support their efforts. She also highlights the importance of their work, as the key to filling the workforce pipeline for our region's economy and the key to empowering individuals to be engaged members of their communities with hope and opportunities to live successful, independent lives. It's an important conversation centered around what it means to be a lifelong learner, the power of being intentional, and seeing promise everywhere.
