Steam Deck Quickie: Reset Forgotten Sudo/Deck Password (No Data Loss)
In this video, we'll help you recover your lost/forgotten SUDO/deck user password that you probably set with the passwd command from the Konsole.
You'll need to create a Steam Deck recovery boot USB drive (see link for recommendation) and a mouse/keyboard will be extremely helpful in this process. In order to use the boot drive and a mouse and keyboard, you'll probably need a dock or at least a cheap USBC hub.
UPDATE 5/26/2023: I was asked if this process would work with a microSD card ... can you flash the recovery to it and boot from it to perform the task? The answer is: Yes.
