Welcome to our deep dive into the drives for the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 server! In this video, we’ll explore the five primary types of drives supported by this powerful server: two types of HDDs and three types of SSDs.
The HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 4-Bay LFF supports SATA and SAS drives for HDDs. SATA HDDs offer a speed option of 7.2K RPM with a maximum capacity of 20TB. On the other hand, SAS HDDs provide speed options of 7.2K, 10K, or 15K RPM and can reach a maximum capacity of 20TB. For optimal performance, we highly recommend using SSDs.
For SSDs, the 8-Bay SFF supports SATA, SAS, and NVMe drives. SATA SSDs can achieve a maximum speed of 6Gb/s and a capacity of 7.68TB. SAS SSDs offer a higher speed of 12Gb/s and can reach a maximum capacity of 15.36TB. NVMe SSDs also provide a high speed of 16Gb/s, with a maximum storage capacity of 15.36TB.
There is also a 20-Bay EDSFF chassis that supports E3.s NVMe SSD drives. An E3.s NVMe SSD will have a max capacity of 15.36TB and a max speed of 14Gb/s. You will see more of these types of drives in future configurations so keep an eye out for them since they are rising n popularity.
