When talking about a second American civil war, many conservatives would argue that an armed right-wing insurgency would be able to overpower the federal government and military of the United States, pointing to the Vietnam War and War in Afghanistan as examples of ragtag insurgencies and militias overpowering the US, but not only is the right misunderstanding why the Vietcong and Afghan insurgents won those conflicts, but the comparison between these examples and the United States is a false comparison because the situations are vastly different. This is why conservatives don't understand insurgency.
