Blink Doorbell & Echo Show - Automatic view, setup and instructions.
If you have a Blink Doorbell and an Echo show 5, 8 or 10 you need to see this video where I not only show you how to get the echo show to alert you when someone is at the door.
I will also go a step further and show you how you can enable a routine to automatically show you the video feed when someone is at the front door.
1.Enable the blink skill. To do this open the Alexa app, press more and go to skills and games.
2. Search for blink, select the blink skill. Press enable skill and follow the onscreen instructions to link your account.
3. Once linked it will perform a search to find your devices.
4. The first thing to do is check that it is working. So ask the echo to see your front door.
Just say “Alexa show me the front door”.
5. If you want the echo to alert you when someone is at the door press devices, select device type and select cameras. Select the front door camera and press the gear icon on the top right hand corner of the screen.
6. Press announcement devices and select the echos you want to alert you.
7. Make sure doorbell press announcements is turned on.
To get a video feed you need to set up a routine,
8. Go back to the app. Press more and routines.
Press the plus symbol on the top right had corner of the screen to create a new routine.
I will call it blink doorbell.
9. Press when and select smart home.
Select the front door camera, followed by doorbell.
10. Now press add an action, select customised and type “Alexa show me the front door”. If your camera is called something else change it to what the something else is.
11. Press next and choose device.
I will chose my echo show 3rd generation. Now press save.
12. Go back to routines and create a new routine.
I am going to call it stop.
13. Press when, smart home and select the blink door bell.
14. Under “Alexa will” select wait and select 20 seconds.
15. Then select customised and type “Alexa stop”.
16. Finally select your echo show device.
This routine will wait for 20 seconds after the doorbell has been pressed before it goes back to the home screen.
And thats it you are all set up and ready to go.
