This microphone is made out of condenser electret capsule,op amp,old spray bottle,and some electronics spare part's,component's,pvc pipes etc.
This microphone is a powered microphone which means it has a built in preamp. Here we are using the usb port to power the microphone and pre amplifier board itself.I designed this circuit for this particular condenser electret microphone but it takes any condenser electret capsules.
There are many lavalier microphones,microphones available in the market with and without a coin cell battery configuration for example boya by m1 have a small 1.5v cell to power the microphone and its circuit and some microphones have not. Because microphones use the bias voltage from the sound card to power the microphone is around 2.5v.
Powering the microphone with a coin cell battery is a good idea to avoid noise from the power supply lines like boya by m1. but it is the best way to spend a little amount of money over and over.always the output audio signal and sound quality decreases according to the battery voltage decreases.
In my microphone design with some low cost components here I’m using 5v from the usb line to power the microphone. I know the usb power source is noisy but in my circuit design I used a RC low pass filter before the microphone capsule and preamplifier to remove any kind of noise that computer components make. So the power supply line is clean and the microphone and circuit get a clean constant voltage.so the output audio signal level is constant it does not decrease over time like battery powered microphones and we don't want to worry about changing the battery.
My microphone design always has a built in preamplifier with a gain of 47.8. which means the preamplifier amplifies the output signal from the condenser electret microphone capsule 47.8 times before going to the computer sound card input.so the audio signal is strong enough to record without turning on the microphone boost option in the audio manager software of your pc. Boosting microphone signals in the audio manager software increases noise level too.so here we are solved that problem.
You can control the gain of the preamplifier to your sweet spot level by adjusting the (R5) 47k potentiometer.
Here the microphone has enough gain so you can always record sounds from a far distance from the microphone. For example if you are playing pubg you don't want to tie any kind of lavalier microphones to your dress and some people don't like overhead headphones with microphones.
Here you can place the microphone on your desk,table,whatever you like, adjust the gain of the microphone then go… happy gameplay,happy voice over.
