How to create simple measures in Power BI
Measures are calculations that you can use to analyse your data in Power BI. They are dynamic and can change depending on the context of your report or dashboard. For example, you can create a measure that calculates the total sales for each product category, and then use it in a chart to compare the sales across different categories.
To create a simple measure in Power BI, you need to follow these steps:
1. In the report view, select the table that contains the data you want to use for your measure. You can also create a new table by clicking on the New table button in the Modelling tab.
2. In the Fields pane, right-click on the table name and select New measure.
3. In the formula bar, type a name for your measure, followed by an equal sign (=).
4. Enter the formula for your measure, using the DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) language. You can use existing columns, measures, or functions in your formula. You can also use the IntelliSense feature to help you write your formula.
5. Press Enter to save your measure. You can see it under the table name in the Fields pane, with a calculator icon next to it.
