Easily Make Elderberry Tincture for Cold and Flu Season
My recipe for this immune supporting tincture to have on hand for cold and flu season.
You can also make a more instant version by cooking berries in water on the stove, then straining it off to use right away or to give to anyone who can't have the alcohol-based tincture, here's that recipe:
ELDERBERRY SYRUP:
1 cup fresh or 1/2 cup dried elderberries
3 cups water
1 cup raw organic honey
optional 2 TB grated fresh ginger
Place berries, ginger, and water in a pot, bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer over low heat 45 minutes. Smash the berries and then strain the mixture into another pan or bowl, then add honey and combine well. Bottle and store in the fridge for up to 3 months. For children- I use 1 teaspoon per waking hour at the onset of cold/flu symptoms, or 1 ts per day for preventative measures.
