Purpose of WSUS is it will get updates from Microsoft Update Server as per configuration.
WSUS will scan internal computers and it will store scan result in database as defined. In WSUS will determine will share results update that is required, missing or Not Required.
To manage this thru MECM, will install SUP role.
Will configure SUP role which will automatically configure WSUS.
To Install WSUS -- Server Manager -- Add Roles and Features
Select Role based or feature based installation
Select Server
In Roles need to select Web Server IIS & Windows Server Update Services (All features we need to add)
Further in features need to select .Net Framework 3.5 features all options need to be selected.
Select BITS, Remote differential Compression
Further we need to configure IIS as we selected previously that role
Need to select Windows Authentication, IIS Management Console
Further we need to configure WSUS as we selected previously that role
Need to select WSUS Services & SQL Server Connectivity as we have SQL Server to store updates
In Content need to provide path where updates will be installed: Eg: C:\WSUS_Content
In DB Instance: Need to provide SQL DB server path.
Check Connection, to make sure validation is successful.
Install
Check WSUS Service, will be disabled make it automatic.
In Server Manager, need to select Launch post installation task.
This will create WSUS Website & Database in DB Server.
Can review in IIS:
IIS -- Application Pools -- WSUSpool is created
In Sites -- WSUS Administration will be created.
In Database server --- SQL Server Management Console
Within Database folder will see SUSDB as configured earlier.
We can configure post this directly SUP Role.
However just for reference will check options in WSUS.
Server Manager --- WSUS or thru Start -- WSUS
will see no updates
to configure in WSUS -- Options -- WSUS Server Configuration Wizard
In MECM Console -- Administrations --
Server and Site System Roles -- need to add Software Update Point Role
On MECM Server right click Add Site System Roles
In System Role Selection select "Software update point" role
Further configure SUP Role as we selected it.
Select port number, Proxy setting and WSUS credentials.
Synchronization Source: From where we are going to get updates, will select Microsoft Windows Update
Synchronization schedule, incase automatic schedule give a tick.
Supersedence Rule: Are we looking to immediately expire old updates or wait for specific months can be defined.
WSUS Maintenance: Maintenance task to clean up and maintain WSUS service and database, here can select preferred options
Maximum Run time: can state for Windows Feature Updates and Office 365 updates.
Further Classification , Products and Languages need to be selected: we need to select
And Install
Further can be verified in roles -- will see Software Update Point role
Logs to Review:
SUPSetup.log :: will state if SUP role successfully installed or not.
WCM.log:: will state MECM & SUP connection information.
wsyncmgr.log: will state sync updates from Microsoft Windows update server
Can Monitor Software Update Synchronization:

go to Administrations -- Sites -- Configure Site Components -- Software Update Point
Select Products or Classification
