WBRC 6 News Good Day Alabama Open, 8/19/2024 (New Graphics/Music/Branding)

Open for the morning newscast on the Fox affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama owned by Gray Media. Recorded Monday, August 19, 2024 during the 4am block.
Last night at 10pm, WBRC launched the GrayONE graphics package, with a custom open sequence that features some elements of the Atlanta News First style. It makes sense this would occur since Birmingham and Atlanta have long shared many similarities. They also changed the music to "Guardian" from Stephen Arnold Music (replacing "Aerial"), and dropped the FOX branding from most places, becoming "WBRC 6 News". For now, the WBRC FOX 6 brand is used outside of news, and may continue to be for the foreseeable future. The FOX logo is still seen on the logo bug as well. Dave Hoffmann remains the voiceover.

WBRC has been going all out for their 75th anniversary, including running old promos and bringing back past personalities for interviews, and I think bringing back the iconic 6 logo (based on the legendary WBRC signage outside their studio) from the 70s and 80s was a great move for this legacy station to make. WBRC has dominated the ratings for many decades, and their move to Fox in 1996 did not hurt them at all. It's why Fox opted to keep WBRC over New World's WVTM, and why Raycom brokered the deal with Local TV to get this station to complement their portfolio of other outlets in the region.
