Bouvet Island, in the southern Atlantic Ocean, is the most isolated place in the world. In other words, there is no other territory that is as far from a different landmass as Bouvet.

In a radius of 1600 kilometers we will only find water. The closest thing, which is at that distance, is the Island of Gough, also known as Gonçalo Álvares.

We can also see that it is 1700 kilometers from Antarctica, 1900 from the South Sandwich Islands and 2500 from Cape Town. But the closest inhabited place is Tristán da Cunha, 2,200 kilometers away, which holds the record for being the most inaccessible inhabited place in the world. Bouvet, on the other hand, is not inhabited.

With 93% of its surface covered by glaciers, this Norwegian island can only be reached by helicopter. The climate is hostile due to its low temperatures and strong winds, which also discouraged the existence of any human settlement.
