In this video, I discuss the recent arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in the context of Europe's assault on privacy and free speech.
The very island (UK) and the continent (Europe) where the Enlightenment ideals of basic universal human rights including freedom of speech and freedom of association were pioneered have been rapidly devolving into an Orwellian nightmare over the past few years.
Pavel Durov's real "crime" is providing encrypted free speech to Europeans (and people all over the world).
This is yet another important reminder of why we need decentralized protocols like Bitcoin and Nostr that don't have single points of failure like a corporation or CEO.
