Based on a true story, Jack Black plays Bernie, a happy-go-lucky Texas mortician who strikes up an unusual relationship with the curmudgeony widow, Marjorie (Shirley MacLaine), but when the affair goes sour, he breaks things off the only way he can -- but shooting her dead.
