#Makes About 36 Biscuits
These old passhioned biscuits are very short in texture. They are best eatin within a couple of days of making.
8 oz ( 225g) soft margarine
6 oz ( 175g) goldel caster sugar
2 egg yolks
A few drops of vanilla essence
10 oz ( 275g) self- raising flour
2 oz ( 50g) rolled oats
12 glace cherries,(optional)
Pre-heat the oven to 190°C /375°F/Gas 5. Lightly grease 2 baking trays.
Measure the margarine ,sugar,egg yolks,vanilla essence and flour into a mixing bowl.
Mix together to form a soft dough.
Divide the mixture into about 36 portions. Form each piece into a ball and roll in the oats to cover . Flaten each ball slightly and top each with a quartered glace cherry ,if liked. Place on the prepared baking trays.
Bake in the pre-heated oven for about 20 minutes or untill golden brown. Allow to cool slightly on the baking trays for a few moments before lifting on to a wire rack to cool.
