4th of July Water Fight Colorado | BEST 4th of July Celebration in America

We don’t have many family traditions surrounding holidays, but we do have one: spending our favorite day of the year in our favorite place – 4th of July in Ouray!
I’ve been celebrating the 4th of July in Ouray since 2007, but this year was extra special because I signed up to challenge the decade-long champions in the Annual water fight.
Every 4th of July, the fire department shuts down 1 intersection on Main Street and hosts 4 waterfights: junior mens who are boys under 21 years old, co-ed, womens’, and senior mens where they break out the big hoses.
It felt like a right of passage to get to participate in the event, and my teammate Jourdon and I trained for weeks leading up to the event.
In the end, we didn’t win, but we did last 1 minute and 4 seconds which I felt proud of!
I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to the Ouray Volunteer Fire Department for all that they do to put on such a special day for all of us.
