-- Description from event listing below --

Dr. Sima Samar’s lifelong advocacy for women’s rights in Afghanistan has made her both a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize and a thorn in the side of the Taliban. Her new memoir, Outspoken, provides an unparalleled view of her country’s present, and fragile future.

In this book, Dr. Samar shares her personal story, from her arranged marriage and her time in medical school, to eventually becoming a public official and working tirelessly for a better, more just Afghanistan.
