The answer is yes! Instead of just giving you the final workflow, today I’ll also break down the principles and functions behind each part of the process, so you can build your own e-commerce photography workflow from scratch.
Here’s how I see the process for creating e-commerce product images, broken down into the following steps:
Design: Plan the final image, including image size, product size, product position, background, etc.
Extract the Subject: Provide the product image and extract the subject and mask.
Blend the Subject and Background: Merge the product subject into a generated or provided background.
Lighting: Add lighting effects.
Refinement: Refine the image (upscaling, inpainting, etc.).
Detail Restoration: Restore product details.
Color Correction.
Video: Create a video.
That’s the overall workflow. Step 3 is the key part—those with basic needs can stop after completing this step. The following five steps are the “cherry on top,” helping you achieve a more harmonious, vibrant, realistic, and polished result.
For each step, I will list one or more possible methods. You can choose based on your preferences, or you can use techniques from other creators especially those specializing in generating e-commerce images. As technology evolves, you can also swap in newer, more advanced models and plugins.
