The Adjutant General of Oregon, Brig. Gen. Alan Gronewold, and Command Sgt. Maj. Lee Smith, the Oregon National Guard Command Senior Enlisted Leader, share their vision for training excellence across our organization.
In this TAG Talk, our senior leaders emphasize the critical importance of focused, team-level training. They outline their expectations for commanders to empower teams in developing training schedules that prioritize squad and section-level proficiency. Their message is clear: when our Soldiers and Airmen are given opportunities to train in their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) under realistic conditions, it builds the cohesive teams that are the foundation of our force.
"People didn't join the military to do recruiting events. They joined to do their MOS," states Brig. Gen. Gronewold, highlighting that quality training naturally leads to recruitment as service members share their positive experiences with others.
