Toyota is one of the oldest automakers in the industry. And for years, they have been producing a lot of cars. Of late, most of these cars have been receiving upgrades and face-lifts to allow them to keep up with modern technology. One such car is the Toyota Sienna Hybrid. As it gets to 25 years old in 2023, Toyota has decided to mark this with a special edition car. This car will take the term "minivan" to a whole new level. 2023 is the year that marks 25 years since the Toyota Sienna made its debut. Since it is a special year for the minivan, Toyota has decided to give it a special, limited-edition anniversary model. The last time that the Toyota Sienna got a redesign was in 2021. Since then, it received a new trim in 2022 with the fairly new Woodland edition. With this, it is quite unlikely to see any changes to the main lineup for the next model year.
The Anniversary model of the Toyota Sienna is a cross-breed between the sportier XSE trim and some luxury touches from the Limited trim. However, not everyone will get to enjoy it because the special edition model will only have 2,525 units produced. I think at this point, everything about the special edition is based on the number 25.
The 2023 Toyota Sienna was a pretty bad attempt at SUV cosplay, yet just a single glance at the car, and you can tell that it is a minivan. Toyota gave the Sienna, especially the special edition 25th anniversary model, a bolder look with some prominent bumpers, a sport-tuned suspension, roof rails, black painted caps, and even power-fold side mirrors with memory. The car also comes with 20-inch 5-spoke wheels to add to the style. The car only comes in two colors: Celestial Silver and Wind Chill Pearl. The car comes with black detailing on the mirrors and antenna and an even better black badge to make it more unique.
But even for a minivan, it handles pretty well on the road. Now that makes me wonder what this minivan has under the hood.
The Sienna’s main rival, which is the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, comes purely with front-wheel drive, with a V-6 engine and electric motors that give it a total horsepower of 260. However, the all-wheel-drive model of the 2023 Toyota Sienna is not that impressive when it comes to acceleration. It takes about 7.7 seconds to go from 0 to 60. In addition to that, it takes about 15.8 seconds to complete the quarter-mile, and it does so at only 88 miles per hour. This is somehow like the Pacifica Hybrid but is far slower than the non-hybrid Pacifica and the Honda Odyssey. Even with all that, you will definitely get a quiet cabin and a refined ride.
The 25th anniversary special edition model comes with black leather-trimmed seats that have silver contrast stitching. The front seats are also heated and ventilated, giving you the ultimate luxury. There is also a memory steering column, illuminated door sills, JBL speakers, navigation, and even wireless charging. To make the car even more unique and to celebrate the 25th anniversary, the car comes with floor mats and a key fob cover with "25th Anniversary" detailed on them.
The Sienna also comes with a few safety features that will make sure you go on untouched. This includes some standard systems like automatic emergency braking, road sign assist, forward collision warning, and even rear cross-traffic alert.
The Toyota Sienna has been designed and built in the US. And even though Toyota has not yet announced when the 2023 model will be released, we can expect to see it on the road or on the market by the end of this year.
Even though minivans are not as common as they once were, the 2023 Toyota Sienna will still find some competition in the market with other minivans like the Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, and the Kia Carnival.
