Installing Python - Python Tutorial #0
We start this tutorial series by learning my preferred way of installing python. We install python by installing the Anaconda distribution. Although we will not need most Anaconda features while we are learning, I prefer Anaconda because it installs important scientific packages that I need for my work. It also installs the Spyder Integrated Development Environment we will learn python in. An integrated development environment helps us by highlighting key words in our code and makes it more convenient to run scripts interactively. You are welcome to use another python distribution and you don't have to program along with this tutorial series, but I highly recommend it. Programming is best learned hands-on and while playing around in a working installation of the language.
Python, Spyder and Anaconda are all completely free and open source. I am not affiliated with either of them.
