Guyana, the hidden country in South America
Guyana is an independent country located in the north of South America and has several peculiarities. Because of being colonized by the British, it is the only country in the region where the official language is English. But even more striking is that it is the country in the western hemisphere with the highest percentage of Hindus.
Despite the pandemic, Guyana expects a great growth of its economy for this year, since it started to export oil. This activity can make the country one of the richest in the world.
Guyana was the scene of one of the worst contemporary tragedies: the Jonestown massacre. For some it was a mass suicide, while for others it was a massacre with a main culprit, Jim Jones.
