Gunna Ft. Drake “P Power”
What does P stand for?
While I’m convinced Metro remade the sample in “P Power”, I couldn’t find any concrete proof. There’s that interview of Gunna explaining the re-recorded vocal and some glaring instrument/mixing differences between the real and og “P Power”. Regardless, I tried to word this script to emphasize that Metro probably remade the sample like this, but I can’t say for sure.
Some notes on “Feel The Fiyaa”.
I think Metro slowed the Peabo Bryson sample slower than the actual track, splicing sections back together every beat. This would give the track a heavy swing, since the drums would always be too slow. I didn’t include this because I’m not 100% sure he did this and when I tried it, the kick and hi-hat sounded bad.
The sub bass sounds like it’s playing the wrong frequencies (weird non-root notes). It sounds like that in the real song too, just quiet enough to not stand out.
In my remake, the vocals are pretty rough. By that time though, I had already gotten way too far remaking this song to give it up. I could only find a woman singing similar “EE” and “OO” syllables and gave it some close mixing. As it is in the video, it’s about as close as anyone could get without hiring a real singer.
I’m starting to think that my terrible video titles might be dragging down these videos. I’m trying to make some better titles, which basically requires the video to have some kind of narrative, and what that narrative is for any given song isn’t obvious (if you’re not drama-baiting). I miss talking about SpongeBob.
