In this series on Adobe Premiere Pro, we will guide you through the process of video editing, starting from the basics.

Our first topic will cover how to begin a Premiere Pro project as a beginner.

Before we begin, please ensure that you have downloaded and installed Adobe Premiere Pro. If you haven't done so already, you can download it from Adobe's official website.

For this tutorial, we will be using version 15 point 4 point 1, released in 2021.

Once you have installed Premiere Pro, you will find a desktop shortcut. If you don't see it, you can locate the application in the Windows menu. It's recommended to pin it to your taskbar for easy access in the future.

Click on the icon to open Adobe Premiere Pro.

Upon opening the application, you will see various tabs appear. These tabs include options such as "New Project," "Open Project," and "Recent."

The "Recent" tab displays a list of previously created and saved projects, allowing you to continue working on them.

If you choose the "Open Project" option, you can find and open a project that you have already created.

However, since we are starting from scratch, we will create a new project.

You will see several options available, but we will focus on the essential ones.

By default, the project name is set to "Untitled." We recommend giving your project a more descriptive name. For example, let's name it "Testing Project."

Next, select a location to save your project. Click the "Browse" button to choose any location on your computer. In this case, I'm saving it to my desktop. Create a new folder called "Video Editing Series" and open it. Inside, create a subfolder specifically for your Premiere Pro project file, and name it "Project." Additionally, create subfolders for your media files and assets.

Creating separate folders helps keep your project organized and ensures that source files are backed up properly for future use.

Now, select the project folder you just created.

You will notice the allocated space for your project displayed here.

Under the "Video Rendering and Playback" option, ensure that "GPU acceleration" is selected. This option is available when a graphics card is installed on your computer. Avoid using the "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" option, as it may slow down your workflow.

Below, you will see several default options, which we will discuss later in the series.

Once you have made the necessary selections, click "OK."

Congratulations! Your Premiere Pro project has been successfully created.

To verify that the project has been saved, navigate to the specified location where you created the folder and open it. Inside the project folder, you will find the saved project file.

In our next lesson, we will explore the Premiere Pro workspace and learn how to customize it to suit your needs.
