Today's Mordhau gameplay video is a bit different. I've had a lot of people commenting and asking about what weapon is best for accels and what weapon is best for drags. So, I wanted to clarify the concept of acceling (accelerating) and dragging weapons in Mordhau, because there is no "best" weapon. You can accel and drag any weapon.

Any weapon that you can swing can be accelerated or dragged. Accels and Drags are the terms used to indicate the physical movement of your character during your character's melee attack. Your weapon's swing (if not blocked) will always be the same arc length. No matter how many times you swing your sword, if you don't move, the sword will swing from Point A to Point B the exact same every time.

In Mordhau, it's valuable to know how to Drag and Accel weapon swings. The act of dragging and acceling a weapon in Mordhau is as simple as looking over one of your opponent's shoulders as your melee attack comes in.

***** IF SWINGING FROM THE RIGHT: Look left, past the enemy, to accelerate your swing into them. Look to the right of the enemy to drag your swing.

***** IF SWINGING FROM THE LEFT: Look right, past the enemy, to accelerate your swing into them. Look to the left of the enemy to drag your swing.

(For clarity: in the video, I say their "left" or "right shoulder", and I mean that from your perspective, not their literal left and right shoulders.)

Once you start practicing you'll be able to adjust how far to the left or right you can look to maximize your swing drag and minimize your accel distance. Because each weapon has a specific length, you'll want to practice with your most-used weapons to understand how far to the side you can turn and still hit the enemy. For example, the longer weapons can be dragged and acceled into enemies who aren't even on your screen.

What's the point of acceling and dragging? When you accelerate or drag out your weapon's swing, you're trying to either catch your opponent before they can parry or cause them to parry too early, respectively. We've all been in fights where it seems like all we are doing are just left-clicking and right-clicking until someone runs out of stamina and loses their weapon. By accelerating or dragging attacks, you're attempting to get an opening before or after your enemy reacts to your swing windup.

Some accel and drag tips:
• Accel after a feint to catch your opponent off guard the easiest. They'll be flustered by A.) How fast you attacked. and B.) From falling for the feint in the first place. If you can get an enemy flustered, they're more likely to make another mistake.
• Attack an enemy with two regular attacks, using roughly the same arc distance (no dragging or acceling), this will likely establish a pattern in their mind. Drag the third swing and they will likely parry about the same time they did so for the first two attacks. It's almost like they'll be counting in their mind: "One Mississippi, parry, Two Mississippi, parry, Three Missippi, parry....*gets hit by drag*"
• Similarly to the previous tip, acceling can also throw off an enemy's timing. "One Mississippi, parry, Two Mississippi, parry, Three Missi-*gets hit*"

Hope this helps!
