We have been away from each other but our music still lingers and brings us back together. Here is Bangalore Broadway Company's first virtual recording. BBC is greatly inspired & drawn to the organic & earthy nature of folk music. For us, folk music has been such a great teacher in helping us understand a teeny bit about cultures from across the world.

This beautiful acapella sung by Deepa Jacob Shami Mohan Nivedh Jayanth & myself is a Russian folk song called "Za tikhoy Rekoyu" which means "Beyond a calm river". We absolutely love Russian folk music, the depth and soul of everyone song really reaches the heart like no other. We've been following so many Russian folk groups and really trying our best to understand and sing .

Here is the translation of the song:
"Beyond a calm river, in a birch grove
The first spring flower will blossom.
And I’ll make a simpler wish
And crossing myself look at the East.
The sky will turn a crimson dawn,
And the eternal sun will rise over the world.
And a white bird will soar above the ground,
And bring God’s forgiveness from the heaven.
And a white bird will soar above the ground,
And bring God’s forgiveness from the heaven.
And something more will be opened to my heart,
Such that it couldn’t be comprehended in my life.
And it’ll be calm and delightful as in the childhood,
When my mother was embracing me.
And it’ll be calm and delightful as in the childhood,
When my mother was embracing me.
The holy prayer will be shed by tears,
Christ’s love will overfill sadness,
And at that instant a soul will touch
The great universe named Russia"
