U.S. Representative Andy Barr of Kentucky is turning personal tragedy - the death of his wife, Carol - into purpose. Carol Barr died at age 39 of mitral valve prolapse, and Congressman Barr is honoring her memory by informing others about the heart valve disease that took her life. In Washington, Rep. Barr has proposed federal legislation in Carol's honor. The Cardiovascular Advances in Research and Opportunities Legacy (CAROL) Act will address the gap in knowledge about valvular heart disease.
