LA to Berlin - FUNGI Art | How to utilize mushrooms for aesthetics w/ Sharlene Durfey
In my sixth installment of FUNGI talks, I have the pleasure of speaking with the absolutely gifted artist Sharlene Durfey. Sharlene is an image maker who, equipped with a camera and a computer (and sometimes a knife, scissors, glue, etc.) manages to create images that go far beyond the lens of a camera. Her aesthetic is sometimes surreal, often colorful, but always quite graphic. She draws inspiration from fashion, patterns, and colors, often creating her own costumes to tell a unique story. Currently, mushrooms have captivated her and she creates art around them. Find out what drives her, why she does it and what her vision is in the interview.
Durfey discovered her creativity right out of college while living in San Francisco. She is self-taught in everything she does. Then she explored fashion and photography while living as an artist in Los Angeles. Now she has moved to Berlin to learn even more about herself and deepen what makes her unique. In meiner sechsten Folge FUNGI talks habe ich das Vergnügen mit der absolut begabten Künstlerin Sharlene Durfey zu sprechen. Sharlene ist eine Bildermacherin, die ausgestattet mit einer Kamera und einem Computer (und manchmal auch mit einem Messer, einer Schere, Klebstoff usw.) schafft Bilder zu kreieren, die weit über das Objektiv einer Kamera hinausgehen. Ihre Ästhetik ist manchmal surreal, oft bunt, aber immer auch ziemlich grafisch. Sie lässt sich von Mode, Mustern und Farben inspirieren und kreiert oft ihre eigenen Kostüme, um eine einzigartige Geschichte zu erzählen. Durfey entdeckte ihre Kreativität direkt nach dem College, als sie in San Francisco lebte. Sie ist Autodidaktin in allem, was sie tut. Dann erforschte sie Mode und Fotografie, während sie als Künstlerin in Los Angeles lebte. Jetzt ist sie nach Berlin umgezogen, um noch mehr über sich selbst zu lernen und das zu vertiefen, was sie einzigartig macht. Sie freut sich darauf, mit neuen Künstlern und Modemarken zusammenzuarbeiten, um ihre beste Arbeit zu machen.
