Head of Iowa Poll reviewing data after historic miss on presidential poll
Just days before the presidential election, a Des Moines Register poll put Vice President Kamala Harris up three points over former President Donald Trump.
Instead, Trump won Iowa by a historical margin.
"Other people, of course, were skeptical," Tim Hagle a political science professor at the University of Iowa said. "Again, it did seem to be out of line with all the other polls and it turns out that it was out of line. It turned out to be an outlier."
J. Ann Selzer, who conducted the poll, called it a big miss in a Des Moines Register Op-Ed. She said her team is in the process of reviewing the data to see what happened, but that it will take some time.
