In today's video, I will talk about the Importance Of Using Camera Filters When Shooting Videos and explain how they work and why you need to use camera filters when shooting video or taking photos!
The easiest way to explain ND camera filters is to think of them as sunglasses for your camera… just like when you put your sunglasses on when it’s a sunny day, you do the same thing for your camera easy right?
But here is where it gets a bit more complicated,
Let’s take this Canon 50mm f1.8 lens, its quite a fast lens and as you can see it’s a sunny day, so the nd filter on the camera is going to allow me to get smooth motion, cause when you are filming video you always wane follow the 180-degree rule,.
So I'm shooting in 24fps at the moment and that would mean that my shutter speed should be on 50fps, here’s the problem, if you want to keep your aperture at f1.8 and have a nice blurry background then you can’t change your shutter speed because you would need to change your aperture and then you lose your blurry background.
But when you pop on your nd filter you can keep your aperture at f1.8 and you won’t have to change your shutter speed, so your background will still be nice and blurry and you will still be able to follow the 180-degree rule.
