Canon 2348
When a man or woman is forced to sign a document by force, such a signature has no legal effect. To ensure this, a man or woman can legally choose one of two mechanisms to physically revoke their signature:
(i) by placing the letters V. C. Anywhere in the signature, a man or woman customarily signifies the principle of Vi Coactus or "under compulsion" to sign, which immediately invalidates the entire document; or
ii) If the signature cannot be clearly affixed by force, then the man or woman may use the ellipsis "... ." anywhere within their signature to prove that they attempted to sign V.C. but were otherwise prevented.

Regardless of whether a man or a woman signed a document or not, if it can be proved that such a signature was obtained under false pretenses, pressure or any other deception, then such a signature is invalid.
