🟣⛔ Twitch LYING to Creators?!
Twitch's exclusivity announcement lies to Affiliates on Twitch, and is disingenuous to both Twitch Partners and Twitch Affiliates!
Recently Twitch announced that Partners can multi-stream or simulcast, but whilst TikTok and Instagram were included in that, Facebook Gaming and YouTube Gaming Live experiences were excluded.
This means that you can multistream on TikTok and Instagram, as they are mobile streaming services, but you are not allowed to multistream to Facebook or YouTube.
However, as at 25th Aug 2022 the Twitch Affiliate contract does not mention anything about "Mobile" streaming vs "Desktop" streaming, nor does it mention anything about TikTok or Instagram, vs Facebook and YouTube.
Can Twitch Affiliates multi-stream? In fact, as the current Twitch affiliate contract states, there is an "Exclusivity Period" - a period of twenty-four (24) hours following the end of the Initial Broadcast of such Live Twitch Content (the “Exclusivity Period”).
So even multi-streaming / simulcasting to TikTok is currently banned according to Twitch's contract.
Twitch benefits from allowing users to stream live on TikTok because it acts as a 'feeder' platform into Twitch. In short, Twitch has grown significantly because of TikTok, and that's the real reason why they allow TikTok streaming but not 'simulcasting' to YouTube of Facebook.
Twitch is being greedy because they have cut Partner revenues to 50%, but give nothing back in return. What's happened with the latest Twitch announcement is that they're pretending to stop exclusivity when in reality they're benefitting massively from TikTok, and fear YouTube and Facebook Gaming.
