Japanese Romaji - Sensē, Sensei, or Sensee?
Japanese Romaji is a writing system to spell Japanese syllables in Roman (Latin) characters. It was invented for non-Japanese people who cannot read Japanese characters (Hiragana, Katakana, & Kanji).
Since we Japanese already have our own writing systems, we don't commonly use Romaji in our daily life.
Because of this reason, there are no standardized rules for Romaji spelling. I will introduce a few common types of Romaji systems in use today and how the same word is spelled differently in each group.
If you truly wish to learn Japanese, I highly recommend getting started with Japanese letters (Hiragana & Katakana)!
