On this episode of #BlendedLife we talk about #blendedfamily separation; living apart but #stayingmarried (is that even an option?!). It's more common than you'd think. How does a blended family married couple get to this place you may wonder; easily! What are the ramifications of separating and yet keeping your marriage in tact on paper (because that's all it would be at this point)? How do you, or even how can you, come back when trust is broken? What does choosing to live apart teach the kids that are watching? What advice do we have about feeling like you can't say or do anything right when your marriage is crumbling before your eyes? And most importantly, what do you do when your husband blocks you from Facebook in the midst of all this? There's certainly a lot to unpack here as we dive into these deep waters. When that finally wraps up, we end things with a discussion about step parenting when you are living in the shadow of the bio parent. How do you survive in a blended family where you feel not good enough? What do you do when you are always compared to your counter part bio parent and you feel you always come up short? How do you cope when your step children are hurting and acting out because of the death of their parent and are taking it all out on you? Talk about feeling helpless, disheartened and alone. The Purpose
Why is talking about blended families and life in general important? Because I believe that we can do better than what statistics say about second marriages lasting, about blending families making it, that’s why! A 70% divorce rate statistic for remarriages with children is simply unacceptable! Spreading life lessons, passing along wisdom gained from experience and bringing to light what is often happily left in the dark to hide, is how we all can learn to be better, to do better the second time around (in a blended family many lives depend on it). Together we can avoid costly mistakes that will end in the demise of our precious families.
