As a new coach, it can be difficult to let go of some of the models we’ve been taught – GROW, OSKAR, etc. However, coaching is not about us, the coach, but about our clients and what they need in the moment.
If you’re ready to explore other coaching approaches, you might want to consider Gestalt coaching. It’s an approach that focuses on the person as a whole and works with them in the here and now, paying attention to the awareness of both coach and coaches.
In this video snippet of the podcast episode we recorded together, Gill Stevens talks about some of the principles of Gestalt and how to use this approach in your coaching sessions. She also talks about the dangers of trying to put too many labels on what we do as coaches and focus on the client instead.
