Every detail in your screen tells a story. Believe me, when the person who is interviewing you sees you on camera, they are also seeing the room where you are in. Instead of automatically blurring the background or using a virtual background of an office, why not share a window into your world (strategically) to make a great first impression.
It’s ok to consider privacy. You are likely filming from your home, so you want to be mindful on not sharing private spaces like a bedroom or restroom.
Tidiness. Your space may reflect your habits! If the interviewer sees a neat room, then they can assume that you are an organized person! It’s also far less distracting since they will focus on you, and not the busyness of your background.
This is also an opportunity o share a little bit about your personality! It’s a window into your world - whether you’re a plant lover, a sports fan, an avid reader, or someone who loves pottery, the job interviewer will get to know you before you even open your mouth.
People want to know the REAL you, so find the courage to be REAL instead of relying on virtual backgrounds. Subconsciously it feels as though you’re hiding something…so take the time to create a #virtualbackground that celebrates the awesome person you are.
