[Genshin Impact] Windblume's Breath: Ballads of Breeze - 100% on Every Pro Chart
With Mondstadt's musical Windblume Festival comes another wave of rhythm charts to wander through. The difficulty is still kept relatively low (as it should be) so players of all types have a chance to experience the charts. That doesn't mean the charts are completely free of surprises - there are some galloping rhythms to follow at points, and the one nasty triplet in the Dance of Aphros chart appearing as a jack on one column is a standout example.
That said, the charts still clearly lack a lot. Those surprises I just mentioned are few, and aren't used consistently within their own charts (likely to keep difficulty down, but that just makes their instances seem more dissonant with the rest of the chart). Numerous opportunities for main instruments to be expressed are missed throughout the charts, and the A and L columns effectively only have a purpose in the community's custom charts. (I think you can count the number of times the A and L columns were used in all the Pro charts COMBINED on your fingers.)
However, some of that lack of expression might not be the fault of the people making the charts, but the people making the chart editor. I had given some thought into making some custom charts to better make use of the instruments the songs provide, but just a couple minutes spent with the in-game chart editor severely quashed that desire. Navigating the advanced view (which is probably necessary to make anything remotely on-sync) is awful, with everything (even note placements) being done with the mouse. It also only allows beat snaps up to a precision of 1:6, when many of the music charts have elements that are on timing complexities more precise than that. (I would likely need beat snaps of 1:8, 1:12, and 1:16 to actually do several of the things I want to with these songs.) There are also preset lines probably meant to indicate some kind of musical relation to the song, but most of them are horribly off-sync and just end up being a distraction rather than anything of use.
I continue to credit them for trying, but the flaws in their creations are still blatantly obvious. Maybe I'll make a custom chart or two if the mood strikes me and I can tolerate the editor's flaws, but the odds of that aren't very high.
