Your website can be a tool to connect with your potential clients before they've even reached out to you. There are a few key factors to understand in order to do this effectively, which we explore in this brief video.

Hi my name is Elise and I am with TinyFrog Technologies. Today I want to talk to you about how you can better connect with your visitors on your website.

If you've seen the movie "Field of Dreams" then you know the idea of "build it and they will come." But what if you build it, and they come, but they don't stick around. A relevant website is critical if you want to convert your potential visitors into clients. You can have a beautiful website, but if it isn't relevant to those audience members, then they're most likely not going to move forward and work with you.

So we have a few tips that we help our own clients implement on their website to better connect with their site visitors. The first step in this is making sure that you understand what your visitors are looking for from your website. What questions do they have, what concerns are they trying to overcome, and what solutions do they hope to attain by working with you?

You want to address these common questions as someone's navigating your website, whether that be throughout the paragraphs and bullet points or in a specific FAQ section on your site. Answering these questions is a great way to connect with people since it shows that you understand what's on their mind and you actually have the answer to help them out.

You also want to speak to visitors in the tone and style that they want to be spoken to. This not only applies to the actual language that you're using on the site, whether you keep it simple or you have the ability to dive into some more technical language because your audience understands it, but it also relates to the emotional side of things. Are your visitors looking for a casual, fun partnership with a company? If they are, then show some of that personality throughout your website. But if they want something more professional and sophisticated, then establish that tone as you work through your site's content.

As they navigate your website, clients want to know one thing -what's in it for them? And so you want to make sure that you're talking to these people and giving them that answer. Show people the value that you're going to bring to them and the benefits they're going to achieve if they choose to work with you.

You don't need to overwhelm visitors with the whole history of your company in order to convince them to work with you. Instead, keep their story at the top of your mind and show those values as you engage with them throughout your site.

Patrice Kelly with Snappy Kraken shares the idea of finding the intersection between your story and that of your visitors. So as you're going through your story, make sure that you're always keeping your visitors top of mind. There's a reason that you chose to work with the types of people that you help, and so sharing that passion and experience can be a really great way to connect with people and show them that you understand what they're going through and what they're hoping to achieve.

The ultimate message here is always keep your visitors at the top of mind. Whether it's when you're writing your content, choosing your images, or creating the overall design of your website, your visitors should always come first.
