Nvidia RTX Encoder for OBS: Single PC streamers dream?
So Nvidia gave us RTX, beautiful raytracing, enhanced AI, deep learning, and some new rendering options for optimal gaming. What they didnt tell us at the beginning was how crazy good RTX was for streaming. So Nvidia has teamed with the guys and gals over at OBS to bring us a new encoding preset called RTX Nvenc, and it seems pretty freaking sweet. The TL;DR version of this is: using an RTX card, the encoder will actually encode your stream using the tensor cores on the GPU, render the game with the gpu core/cpu core, and enable stable framrates for a lag free stream. Sound great right? Well Nvidia is apparently pormising some pretty crazy performance numbers based solely off of the 2060, so in theory if you have a higher tiered card, you should see some SIGNIFICANT performance increase. We shall see... Just so happens, I got my hands on an RTX 2070 ;) Stay tuned....
