Originally, the founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, intended to name their search engine "Googol," after the mathematical term representing a 1 followed by 100 zeros. However, when they registered the domain in 1997, they mistakenly spelled it as "Google" instead. Despite the error, they liked the sound of it and decided to keep the name. So, the iconic name "Google" that we know emerged from an spelling mistake.
